COVID-19

What is it?

COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus called SARS-CoV-2 and most people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms, but some people can become severely ill and others experience post-COVID conditions; which are a wide range of new, returning, or ongoing health problems people can experience more than four weeks after first being infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. 

Positive COVID Test?

If you have mild to moderate symptoms you may qualify for treatment. Call to schedule a visit.

There are currently no FDA-approved treatments available for COVID-19,  but there are options under the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). See below for the available treatment options our office can offer. Options may vary depending on local and federal government allocations.

Oral Antivirals

Oral antiviral treatment works by targeting specific proteins on the SARS-CoV-2 virus to prevent efficient virus replication, thus reducing viral load. There are currently two approved oral treatments approved for use with the Omnicron variant.

What's the cost?

Reform ABQ will not bill insurance companies for COVID-19 medication dispensing. Our office currently charges a $10.00 medication dispensing fee. 

Monoclonal Antibodies

 Monoclonal antibodies are made in a laboratory to fight a particular infection; in this case, SARS-CoV-2, and are given by infusion or injection. There is currently one monoclonal antibody treatment approved for use with the Omnicron variant.

PCR Testing

This test actually detects the genetic material (RNA) of the COVID virus. PCR Testing is the "gold standard" for diagnosing SARS-CoV-2.
