Storage tips and other suggestions

Even before you head to the pharmacy, make sure your medications and equipment can be stored safely. Did you realize a medicine cabinet in a bathroom can get moisture from a bath or shower and that it's not an ideal place to store certian medications? Know that heat, air, light, and moisture may damage your medicine so, store your medicines in a cool, dry place.

This is probably a given but, remember to keep medications out of reach of children and those with Demenita.

If you suffer from a chronic illness such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD be sure you always have enough medications and/or medical supplies to last you at least 14-days.

Don't over stock your medicine cabinet! Over the counter supplments are a great way to improve overall health, but can be dangerous if combined with certian medications. Avoid storing supplements with your first aid kits.

Be sure that everything is in it's original container and that the label is affixed. Unlabeled medictions should never be stored as this poses a risk for incorrect dosing.

Finally, make an effort a couple of times a year to go through your medicines and discard and replace any expired medications and/or supplies. Expired medication is less effective and can even be toxic.
